Redundancy Letter (offer of an alternative role)

During the redundancy selection process it may become apparent that although some employees will be made redundant in their existing role, there are other job opportunities within the business that they are suited to.

(Employers also have a legal obligation to consider employees being made redundant against alternative roles within the business).

This redundancy letter helps an employer advise an employee that their current role is redundant, as well as outlining the company's offer of alternative employement, including:

  • Role redundancy details.
  • Contractual notice period of the current role.
  • Details of, and commencement date in, the proposed alternative role.
  • Employment terms and trial period of the proposed new job.
  • Support and assistance the company will provide.
  • Statutory and additional redundancy payments should the employee reject the offer of alternative work.
  • Right to appeal against the redundancy decision.
