Training and Development Policy

A training and development policy should help an organisation meet it's goals and objectives by ensuring their staff have the required skills.

This policy is important to help ensure essential safety standards are met and that all employees are effectively trained to the standards required.

If your organisation pays course fees (or a proportion of them), you may wish to reclaim these fees if the employee leaves within a specified timeframe.

It is essential to explain whether course fees are repayable to the Company if an employee subsequently leaves (during or after completion of the training course). This document explains these conditions to employees.

Similarly, the amount of time off from work (or study leave) you wish to give employees to attend training courses and undertake examinations is also explained.

If you employ trainees who are in the process of studying for professional qualifications, this policy explains the conditions of employment, and the consequences of not satisfactorily obtaining the necessary professional qualifications.
