Database Technology
The HR Database is a robust and scalable platform. The database engine is MySQL, a client/server grade relational database management system. MySQL is itself open source and freely available for download. MySQL is the database engine of choice for some of the most demanding, high volume, business critical applications. The platform is extremely well supported and maintained.
The modular design of the HR Database allows flexible deployment and extensibility. The current user interface is implemented in PHP, an efficient and flexible development platform. The open source approach is designed to allow complete customisation and straightforward integration with existing business applications.
A Productive Interface
The user interface is designed to be clean and uncluttered, allowing HR administrators to be productive immediately. Common tasks are easily accessed, with extensive configuration options available if required.
Customisation is available if required to tailor the labels to your organisation (or organization!). For example, whether you use employee numbers, payroll numbers, initials, the label for the reference field can be customised as required. Fields that you don't use can be removed to help keep everything tidy.
Advanced Multi-user Support
If you need more than one HR administrator to be able to access the database, you'll love our advanced multi-user support. In fact, you shouldn't even know it's there - our system quietly manages multi-user issues behind the scenes. Old fashioned approaches of record locking are inefficient - our approach is designed to provide the flexibility for multiple administrators to maintain the information, without blocking other users.
From an administrator's perspective, you are not restricted to a single administrative user. Neither do you need to worry about whether the software is installed on the appropriate PC - you just need a computer with a web browser to get started.
Getting Started
To setup your own HR Database system, you can choose to run your own server in-house or use our database server via the Internet. If you prefer to manage your own server, you will need to download MySQL. This can be downloaded from www.mysql.org, or as part of a complete distribution including the operating system from sites such as www.ubuntu.com.
If you prefer to try out the HR Database before setting up your own server, you can register with us for your own secure account (free of charge).
There is no need to install software on desktop PCs, whichever route you choose.
Setting up an HR Database couldn't be easier!
