Flexible working counter-offer letter

If an employee has requested flexible working arrangements, an employer is entitled to propose alternative arrangements to accommodate an employee to work flexible hours (commonly known as a counter-offer or offering compromise arrangements).

If part of their request is acceptable, an employer may propose alternative flexible working practices.

This letter explains the proposal to the employee and explains their rights to accept, reject or appeal the proposal.

The letter helps employers clearly explain the effect of the proposed changes on the employee's entitlements such as their pay and benefits (should they accept the compromise).
