Acceptance of Resignation or Retirement Notification

Avoid any misunderstanding when an employee resigns or retires and plan for the exit by using this standard letter to confirm exit procedures and entitlements.

The focus of this letter is on:

  • confirming termination and notice period
  • notifying contractual rights and entitlements
  • remind return of Company property
  • setting out exit procedures
  • inviting an employee to an exit interview
  • inviting an employee to agree employment reference details prior to leaving

This letter includes sections that can be used should your employee wish to leave before their notice period has expired (and you agree), or if you require your employee not to work their notice period (for example, garden leave).
